THE DEVELOPMENT OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO IMPROVE THE INTERNATIONAL INSIGHTS OF FMIPA UNY STUDENTS THROUGH THE CREDIT TRANSFER PROGRAM IN YALA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY, THAILAND

Yogyakarta State University has a mission as an international scale university (World Class University). One effort to realize this mission is through a credit transfer program that is familiarly called Student Exchange or student exchange. Credit transfer is a form of student mobility program to provide students with knowledge and experience related to academic atmosphere and campus life at partner universities. The knowledge and experience gained by students are expected to develop students' international insights and increase opportunities for student relations on a broader scale.

This credit transfer or student exchange activity aims to make Yogyakarta State University students know and feel the academic atmosphere and life at partner universities. The partner university that collaborates with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) is Yala Rajabhat University, Thailand. It is hoped that attending lectures according to the study program undertaken can provide a different learning experience and can be reapplied after the transfer participants have completed the program.
The credit transfer program was carried out on January 28-April 12, 2019 and was participated by 10 FMIPA students. Departure is taken by air and land. The journey from Yogyakarta to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia took approximately 3 hours by air, then continued by road for about 12 hours to get to Yala Rajabhat University in Yala Province, Thailand. While in Thailand, credit transfer participants not only undertook lecture activities, but also attended educational workshops on STEAM, workshops on journal making, and also took part in the opening ceremony of the 2019 Chankapor Games. Chankapor Games 2019 was an inter-faculty sports competition held annually by Yala Rajabhat University.

Many places were visited while in Thailand, including Pattani Province, souvenir markets in Hat Yai Province, Samila Beach and Songkhla Zoo in Songkhla Province. In addition, there are Malay Day activities where you can easily find Malay and Thai special foods. In Malay Day there are also booths from several Malay countries, where each country introduces food and clothing typical of each country. The Malay Day event was held by Malay people living in Yala Province, Thailand.

On the second day after arriving at Yala Rajabhat University, the participants of the credit transfer meeting met with the dean and several lecturers from Yala Rajabhat University to discuss courses to be taken while undergoing credit transfer. The results of the discussion were taken by 4 courses including: Fundamental of Microbiology, Practical Fundamental of Microbiology, Evolution, and Genetics.
Fundamental of Microbiology has a credit load of 3 which is used for theory and practical Fundamental of Microbiology has a credit load of 1. Then the evolution course has a credit load of 3 for theory. The next course is Genetics has 4 credits with details 3 credits for practicum and 1 credit for theory. Yala Rajabhat University has very adequate infrastructure for lecturing activities, such as laboratory facilities that are quite complete and meet the standards, so it is very supportive for lecturing activities in there.

Hope for the following years, this program can continue to be done so that students feel another atmosphere in the academic field. In addition, through this program students can develop knowledge and experience to enhance international insight. Through this program students are expected to be able to forge broader relations in the academic, as well as social and cultural fields. Finally, in the future FMIPA is expected to be able to expand cooperation with various universities throughout the world so that more students can participate in the credit transfer program and realize UNY's mission as a World Class University.
