EVOLUTION FIELD STUDY IN SANGIRAN SITE

Sangiran, is one of the pre-historic sites that have been recognized worldwide. On last Wednesday (4/24/2019) Biology Study Program students of the Year 2016 did a visit as well as a field study of the evolutionary practicum at the Sangiran site. This field study aims to increase knowledge and students are expected to be able to explore and understand the evolutionary events that can be seen real evidence on the Sangiran site. This visit was quite special because this group had the opportunity to get assistance from Mr. Rusyad as a guest lecturer as well as a field supervisor.

The visit, which was attended by around 80 students, accompanied by several accompanying lecturers, visited three museum clusters in Sangiran. The first cluster visited was the Krikilan Cluster which was the main museum as an information center and was the main diorama of the development of Homo ercetus. The next cluster is the cluster Size, in this cluster students are introduced to the evolution of hominids. The last cluster is the Dayu Cluster, where this cluster explains the environmental or geographical evolution of the Sangiran site itself. Visiting activities as well as field studies for evolution courses in Sangiran are an annual agenda for the Department of Biology of FMIPA UNY.
