Biology Study Program Curriculum Review with the Chair of the Indonesian Biology Consortium (KOBI)

The Biology Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), conducted a Vision and Mission Review and Curriculum Revision Workshop on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Meeting Room 2, FMIPA UNY. The workshop featured Prof. Budi Setiadi Daryono, S.Si., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., Chair of the Indonesian Biology Consortium (KOBI), as the invited resource person. The event was officially opened by the Dean of FMIPA UNY, Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Si.

The workshop was attended by lecturers of the Biology Study Program, who actively participated in discussions and in reviewing the curriculum documents. This activity aimed to ensure the academic quality and relevance of the Biology Study Program curriculum in response to developments in biological sciences, national education policies, and graduate competency needs. In addition, the workshop forms part of the program’s continuous quality improvement efforts and preparation for international accreditation.

The review focused on evaluating the alignment of the curriculum with the program’s vision and mission, graduate profiles, and graduate learning outcomes, as well as the future direction of the study program. Based on the evaluation results, the 2025 Biology Study Program curriculum document was considered well-structured, including a complete cover page, a foreword from faculty leadership, clearly formulated graduate learning outcomes (CPL), defined graduate profiles, and study materials aligned with KOBI guidelines.

Nevertheless, several recommendations for improvement were identified. These included the need for more complete study program identification, clearer documentation of curriculum evaluation activities—such as implementation timelines, participant involvement, and supporting evidence—further elaboration of indicators for achieving the vision and mission, and strengthening the integration of UNY’s core values and their implementation strategies in academic activities.

Overall, the workshop resulted in constructive recommendations for minor revisions that will serve as the basis for finalizing the 2025 curriculum and aligning it with international accreditation standards. All participants agreed that the outcomes of this review will play a strategic role in enhancing academic quality and supporting the continued development of the Biology Study Program.
