COLLABORATING WITH PRACTITIONERS, THE BIOLOGY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT ENCOURAGES STUDENT ENTREPRENEURSHI

The Biology Education Department, through the Student Association of the Biology Education Department (Himabio) at FMIPA Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), is strengthening a biology-based entrepreneurial ecosystem within the campus. One of the key efforts is partnering with industry practitioners and business actors as strategic collaborators. This collaboration aims to provide students with hands-on experience in building and developing startups while still in university. On Sunday, October 12, 2025, an Entrepreneurship Workshop themed “Nature Creations with Aesthetic Value” was held in the FMIPA UNY Meeting Room. The event was attended by the Head of the Biology Education Department and students from both the Biology and Biology Education study programs. The invited speaker was Endra Ade Winata from Tamankecil. The activity began with a material presentation, followed by a hands-on session on creating terrariums. Direct involvement from practitioners offers students real-world and practical perspectives, ensuring that entrepreneurship learning goes beyond theory. This activity also aligns with the graduate profile, preparing students to become practitioners and entrepreneurs in the field of Biology.
