UNY BIOLOGY LECTURER SHARES BIOTECHNOLOGY INSIGHTS AT UIN SULTHAN THAHA SAIFUDDIN JAMBI

 

As part of a commitment to supporting academic collaboration across higher education institutions, Dr. Evy Yulianti, S.Si., M.Sc., from the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), was invited as a speaker in a Guest Lecture themed “Biotechnology” held on June 13, 2025, organized by the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi.

The event, conducted online via Zoom, was opened by Bayu Kurniawan, M.Sc., Head of the Biology Study Program at UIN STS Jambi. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of synergy between institutions in strengthening students’ understanding of the dynamic and multidisciplinary development of biotechnology.

During the lecture session, Dr. Evy delivered materials covering:

  • Applications of recombinant DNA technology in agriculture and healthcare
  • The role of biotechnology in the development of superior crops and gene therapy
  • Integration of biotechnology into higher education curricula based on local contexts and case studies

The activity was attended by both students and lecturers, showing high enthusiasm for the topics presented. The interactive discussion session reflected strong interest in contextual and applied approaches to biotechnology.

Dr. Evy’s participation in this event demonstrates the commitment of the UNY Biology Study Program to advancing scientific knowledge in an open and collaborative manner. It is hoped that this activity will mark the beginning of broader academic cooperation between UNY and UIN STS Jambi, including guest lectures, curriculum development, and joint research initiatives.
