COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE BIOLOGY STUDY PROGRAM OF FMIPA UNY AND PT WIDYA TEKNOLOGI HAYATI

The Biology Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), has established a collaboration with PT Widya Teknologi Hayati. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) took place on December 2, 2024. This initiative strengthens the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education while enhancing curriculum relevance to the needs of the modern biotechnology industry. The collaboration covers various areas that support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including guest lectures, the initiation of joint research, and internship programs (Praktek Kerja Lapangan/PKL). The Head of the Biology Study Program of FMIPA UNY stated that this partnership represents a concrete step in bridging the gap between academia and industry. Students will not only gain theoretical knowledge in the classroom but also have opportunities to apply it directly in real-world settings.

This collaboration also opens opportunities for lecturers to innovate and produce more applied research. Meanwhile, a representative from PT Widya Teknologi Hayati expressed strong support for this partnership and affirmed the company’s readiness to contribute to human resource development programs and campus-based research innovation. Through this collaboration, it is expected that a supportive ecosystem will be established to advance biological sciences in alignment with industry needs, while also strengthening the contribution of higher education institutions to sustainable development.
