UNY COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM PROMOTES RPL PROGRAM IN YAMAGUCHI, JAPAN

Yamaguchi, Japan — A Community Service (PkM) team from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a socialization program on the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Yamaguchi, Japan. The team consisted of Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Didik Nurhadiyanto, ST., MT., IPU, ASEAN Eng, Nur Aeni Ariyanti, SP., MP., M.Agr., Ph.D., and Dr. Evy Yulianti, S.Si., M.Sc., representing the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNY. The event was attended enthusiastically by many Indonesian workers in Japan, including kensusei (technical interns) and kangoshi (nurses), who were eager to learn more about opportunities to continue their education through the RPL program at UNY.
The series of activities began with intensive preparation by the KKN team, including coordination with the Indonesian Students Association (PPI) Yamaguchi to ensure the smooth implementation of the event. This was followed by an initial session introducing the purpose and objectives of the program. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the RPL program, which offers Indonesian workers in Japan the opportunity to gain formal recognition for their work experience and non-formal learning, allowing it to be converted into academic credits to pursue higher education at UNY. The program received positive responses from participants, who expressed their hopes of utilizing this opportunity to enhance their competencies and future career prospects. Through this initiative, UNY aims to expand access to higher education for Indonesian migrant workers through the RPL scheme, while also strengthening academic and social ties between Indonesia and Japan.
