DISCOVER MICROBIOLOGY AND ANNOTATION WEBINAR: “THE POTENTIAL OF ACTINOBACTERIA AS NEW ANTIBIOTIC CANDIDATES TO COMBAT ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE”

Yogyakarta, April 27, 2025 — The Molecular & Microbiology Study Club (MSC) of the Department of Biology Education successfully organized the Discover Microbiology and Annotation Webinar themed “The Potential of Actinobacteria as New Antibiotic Candidates to Combat Antibiotic Resistance” on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 09:00 to 11:30 WIB via Zoom Meeting. The event featured the main speaker, Dr. Rer. Nat. Abdul Rahman Siregar, S.Si., M. Biotech, who shared in-depth insights into the potential of Actinobacteria as a source of new antibiotics to address the global challenge of antibiotic resistance. The webinar was dynamically moderated by Affifah Nur Miftakhul Janah. During the session, participants were guided through various stages of research, including isolation, characterization, and exploration of bioactive compounds from Actinobacteria, which hold promise for innovation in antimicrobial therapy. The webinar also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and sustained research efforts in addressing antibiotic resistance challenges in the future.
