4 students from the Department of Biology Education namely Fita Nilasari (Biology / 2016), Ishadiyanto Salim (Biology Education / 2016), Adinda Yuslia Rukmanandita (Biology / 2016), and Syarah Sabila Rusda (Biology / 2016) guided by 1 supervisor namely Nur Aeni Ariyanti, Ph.D managed to get a Bronze Award in the International Invention and Innovative Competition Series 1/2019 event held in Malacca, Malaysia. Yogyakarta State University has a mission as an international scale university (World Class University). One effort to realize this mission is through a credit transfer program that is familiarly called Student Exchange or student exchange. Credit transfer is a form of student mobility program to provide students with knowledge and experience related to academic atmosphere and campus life at partner universities. The knowledge and experience gained by students are expected to develop students' international insights and increase opportunities for student relations on a broader scale.

On 07-09 2019 last January an International Seminar was held which carried papers in the fields of biosciences, biochemistry, and bioinformatics. This seminar has been known since 2011 as ICBBB (International Conference on Biosciences, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics). The 9th ICBBB was held in a country dubbed the Lion City or the Thousand Larangan State, Singapore.
